meatfreak 500 Posted November 15, 2013 Great harvest! Ā (what is "popper"?) I meant, Jalapeno popper, you fill the Jalapeno with creamcheese. There's all kinds of varieties on the recipe, really tasty Ā Today I sorted out the unripe Jalapeno's. That way I can do a separate taste test later and make a nice picture of all the different varieties I grew this season. Total weight of the Jalapeno's was 13,5kg... Already gave away a couple of kg but think I'm gonna need to freeze some for making sauce later. All the varieties I grew this season from left to right: JalapeƱo CiclĆ³n, JalapeƱo Colima, JalapeƱo Coyame, JalapeƱo Craigās Grande, JalapeƱo Dark Red, JalapeƱo Dulce, JalapeƱo Fooled You, JalapeƱo Gigantia, JalapeƱo Goliath, JalapeƱo Ixtapa X3R, JalapeƱo Jalapa, JalapeƱo Jalastar, JalapeƱo Mammoth, JalapeƱo Master, JalapeƱo Numex Jalmundo, JalapeƱo PS 11435810, JalapeƱo Senorita, JalapeƱo Tajin, JalapeƱo Zapotec, JalapeƱona Red Some more peppers from the harvest. Jalabanero F4 #1, the plant with the purple flowers. Bhut Jolokia Mustard F2 Scotch Bonnet Jamaican Indian Red Scotch Bonnet Yellow x 7-Pot Brainstrain Yellow F1 Urfa Biber
Lonewolf 18,146 Posted November 15, 2013 I like jalapeno. Your collection is very complete and interesting. Ā Ā Don't think I'm gonna be able to de-seed them all before they start to get bad. Ā Ā Yes, it seems a long work. Do you use some kind of flowers isolation to avoid cross-pollination?
Ara Pacis 810 Posted November 15, 2013 It's the jalapenos show!!!
meatfreak 500 Posted November 15, 2013 I like jalapeno. Your collection is very complete and interesting. Ā Yes, it seems a long work. Do you use some kind of flowers isolation to avoid cross-pollination? Ā I have to say I didn't isolate any flowers from being cross pollinated. It's just to much extra work to be honest and the tunnel is pretty closed of from insects because I used tulle in front of the entrances. Luckily the amount of ripe Jalapeno's is a bit smaller Already de-seeded 12kg of those during the season. Ā Ā It's the jalapenos show!!! As you can see there's still a lot of different in size and corking among the varieties.

My favorite recipe is jalapeno stuffed with chilli meat and pickled jalapeno (jalapeno in agrodolce). before they're completaly riped, often. And you? How do you use eating the pod? Ā You have a good memory, Mino The JalapeƱo Farmers Market Potato is indeed missing there, reason is that the pods are still ripening off and I took the gamble to leave them for another week. It's a lot colder but still no frost so hopefully they ripen off to the point the seeds are at least viable. Then I will harvest the ripe pods and try to overwinter the plant inside. Gonna do the same with a couple other varieties. Mmm there's so much tasty things you can do with Jalapeno's, my favorite is pickled but I like stuffing and smoking them also (when ripe). I've frozen all the ripe pods so I can smoke them during the winter and make my version of Chipotle Did the same last year and it turned out very well. Everyone loved it and it's not that hot so you can apply it on many things. http://thehotpepper.com/topic/2602-mmmmmmpoppers/?hl=poppers Ā Ā Ā Very nice Stefan! I really like the look of the bonnet x 7 pod,I'm sure the flavor doesn't disappoint either. Hope all is well with the family! Thanks, John. Family is doing well, the baby is gaining with so that's a good thing Your right about the bonnetxbrainstrain, it's not a superhot like you would expect, would say around 100k sco. It does however has the taste from both parents which makes it a winner for me I can send you some seeds if you would like the try it out next season, we need to stabilize this one
meatfreak 500 Posted November 22, 2013 Yesterday I dug out the JalapeƱo Farmers Market Potato plant, hopefully I can get it to overwinter so I can harvest more pods. Only 3 pods were ripe, although it's a bit hard to see with all that corking Need to check out if they contain viable seeds Sorry for the watermark but I'm afraid it has become necessary
