Lovechops 0 Posted July 1, 2011 Hi all, I've been growing peppers for many years in the UK, this year I have expanded my growing capacity, mainly due to the UK supermarkets only selling red and green peppers. My goal is to introduce the people in the UK to this wonderful fruit and show them it is not just red and green peppers. On the personal side I am a great believer of pure strain and do not agree with what some of the UK industry has been doing, I am interested in genetics and would love to breed a strain more suited to the UK climate. I love the flavour of the chocolate varieties of pepper and also find the baccatum’s have a great flavour. Next year I plan to expand my growing capacity and will have 4 isolated small polytunnels for variety testing. Here are a few pictures of my setup and season so far; I will put these in a blog over the next few days and comment on them. Thanks to all and happy growing. Jamie. Macy 5 Posted July 1, 2011 That's it when I mean PRO! Beautiful tunnels, full of hot gold! It's funny to see that here in Italy we complain about the weather when you, in Uk, are easily growing peppers!

Mistah 5 Posted July 1, 2011 Welcome aboard! Wonderful cultivation, It's nice to see that in north Europe Gl for your important projects. I'm interessed too in cold resistance. Capsicum Pubescens species should be the most resistant, but they are not compatible with the other capsicum species for genetic selection. So I am gonna try grafting tests on capsicastrum, we'll see. cya!

Lovechops 0 Posted July 1, 2011 Thank you all for your kind comments. I am based in Wiltshire in the UK - South West. We have just over 1,000 plants in the ground and 30 diffrent varieties. I have a smaller tunnel on a diffrent site which I use for isolation strains. I am happy to join a i s p e s and look forward to helping stabilize variaties and grow the seed bank mistah - I'm not sure grafting would be sustainable as the pods retain the genetics of the 'grafted' plant. We should talk more.
