PurpleJellyfish 327 Posted February 27, 2022 Ready, steady, go! This year I am starting a little bit later than previous years but I think it will be alright! On friday I disinfected the seeds wit bleach (1 part bleach 9 parts water for 15 minutes) and then soak the seeds for 20h in KNO3 (1g to 100ml). At the end I placed seeds in Eazy plugs (no more paper towels this year) I am trying something new. Off course I have a heating mat which provide heat for optimal germination. Now we wait! My goals for this year: -isolation, isolation, isolation!! -describing varieties for my fellow Slovenians -taking and posting more photos -creation of 1 or 2 crosses -learn new stuff about chillis and gardening -and the most important thing; HAVE FUN! And here's the list of varieties I'll be growing! This list wouldn't be possible without pepperfriends members who donated seeds. I really can't wait to see plants developing!

Good news, for C. lanceolatum, C. rhomboideum and C. galapagoense no compatibility with other species you grow is known. All the seeds that are obtained from these species will be pure, even if they do not derive from isolated fruits and if some hybrid were to emerge it would be even more interesting than the pure variety because it would not be a known hybrid. Last year was even longer 100 varieties... I am happy that this year is just 70 so I can manage them properly. 14 hours ago, Oban said: Hi Luka, a list full of heirlooms and interesting varieties, starting with many C.annuum and C.baccatum. Thank you! Yep, I have decided to explore heirlooms a little bit more. 9 hours ago, L0rdn40 said: Good news, for C. lanceolatum, C. rhomboideum and C. galapagoense no compatibility with other species you grow is known. Yep that is great news! In fact I have thousands of seeds at home already but I really like these 3 varieties so I have to grow them again.

PurpleJellyfish 327 Posted March 22, 2022 Lets go again... I am really dissapointed in germination rate (50 %). Well fortunately I have some spare seeds and I hope they'll germinate! I transplanted few physalis verde and tomatilos purple. A couple of sugarcane chunks from last year plant Also for this year experiment I decided to plant sweet potatoes, ginger, jerusalem artichoke and turmeric. In conclusion everything is fine (except germination rate, but I'll fix this🙂)
