I cotiledoni sono di forma lanceolata di colore verde. La pianta ha portamento ad alberello e puo’ raggiungere un’altezza di 65-75 cm. Le foglie sono di colore verde, ovate e non pubescenti. Il fiore, uno per nodo, è pendente. La corolla è bianca. I frutti dalla particolare forma, nascono verdi e maturano rossi. Sono lunghi circa 5,5-6,5 cm e larghi 3-3,3 cm.
