Si. With scissors and some twisting too due limited space to grow these. Pubescenses are insanely wide without doing something about that. Also I cut down old branches if there is no more leafs after winter.

I need to use those pot just because there is small reservoir for aqua. Some has 0,3 liter, some has 2,4 liter I think + soil naturally. About cat, she does not want to be photographed at all. She wants that I stare her but when I take camera on my hand, she disappears. Cats, what can I say

Summer might finally come, we dont have that much snow anymore. Streets are clean and there is some places where there is still about 5 cm snow. Almost +10C° at daytime so after month or two I can finally put some plants to balcony, finally.

 

Inside is warm enough, naturally, and sun is up enough that CAP 501, chacoënse, has started to bloom. Not so good picture though

 

Some repotting to bigger pots too and finally first try with coconut fiber. I must say, brilliant stuff. Not so much experience yet but seems to be good for my purposes. Keeps moisture quite well and that is good because I am some time few days away from home, maybe week. Overwatering might be problem at some point, roots rotting etc so I need to pay attention for some time...

Spring was quite late this year... 5 weeks. And it was only 4 weeks long so we have summer now. Has actually been for few weeks now. In above arctic circle (where rennes live) this week was over 30 C°, record braking levels... Where I live today should be 28C° top, 16 C° minimum. Sun rises 04:14 and sets 22:43. Warm and sunny all week

 

Did you already used Coconut fiber as growing medium? If yes, did you obtain good results?

 

 

What I have now discovered about this coconut, Splendido! It is just perfect for my needs, holds water so well and mixed with other mediums it looks nice addition.

On that day when I last time posted it, outside was -24C°... Plants ok but weather not so much. Now almost all plants are at balcony, finally. I´ve been too busy to take care of my plants, some drying has happened..

This is my Flexuosum few weeks ago. Study about seeding plants. Please, do not judge me but I got my garden assistant help on this, this is growing in cat hair. Until I´ve seen something green and repotted it. I had some problems with pest that eats all roots or even seeds so I needed to try something desperate. ...and it worked so no worries.

 

 

 

I asked a friend to send some wild rucola seeds but this is what I got. Rucola is planted (naturally) but rest of these, I don't even know what to do with these, especially cima di rapa. And I don't have any space for these at now, maybe some day.

 

I have suffered from some plants dying on my hands and got brilliant excuse to buy some baby plants from close by garden. They have Chili days few times in spring so its nice to see how plants are doing in good conditions

Fishtank. On top some chilies, on bottom reservoir with eatable fish and water. Just add water, fishes takes care of nutrients for plants.

 

 

 

My balcony last evening. I am so happy that I have only balcony instead greenhouse after visiting that garden again. Less trouble with watering and everything. This is small upgrade since last year and a bit better that years that before. Needs some tuning naturally but I think this is good start and much better than last year situation. From that garden I bought El Incendio, frutescens. I got also Aji Panca and Bhut Jolokia Chocolate, both capsicum chinense for free under the growing table. Those were about dead, sloppy leaves and so so tiny. For me it was just good thing, challenge to make these alive again. I have no pictures yet about these but these are alive. I have not got enough time to even update my blog where these pics are but I will try to post more there and here also.

 

 

 

 

Cup in middle with sand on top, there is my flexu yesterday. Has grown a bit and looks just fine. No matter if plant started its life on cat hair. Sinistra is Quadrato d'Asti giallo, destra Tepin. Others are Quadrato d'Asti Rosso & Giallo, tomatoes are Pantano Romanesco. Small and maybe no hope to get anything from those at this year but I will try.

 

On those chilidays I've spoke to one man that grows chilies in same town, I might get tiny c.tovarii from him Or if he gets seeds that actually works, he might get enough seeds for people that are interested. Last summer one man got "some" seeds from flexuosums, about 700 and everyone who was interested got some seeds. Buforum is long time ago gone in our community and parvifolium has not been seen so commonly in public eye in years too. Someone might have these but says nothing. Right now target is to get tovarii relatively common, get growing seeds and verify those purity. After that, spreading those around Finland

I hope this link clarifies about tappo rotanto nero thing, http://www.orthexgro...ringpot-o-14-cm Finnish manufacturer, used recycled plastic. There is small reservoir for water underneath so no need to water plants so often, helps me a lot. Naturally overwatering might be a risk but its easy to poor extra water out.

 

Terriccio e mix of torba, perlite, pebbles, soil and coconut fibre. On top of some pots are just regular sand. I had serious problems with sciaridaes, those maggots ate some seeds, including Torenog and other goodies so I needed to try something. It works because flies cannot enter to soil no matter how hard they try and other good thing is that sand is dry if pot is really really dry, good reminder to give some water again. Yes, I am lazy sometimes Also bonus is that it looks better than soil.

Nothing amazing has not happened. Plants are OK and autumn is coming fast. +24 C°, sun rises 05:24 and sets 21:47 so we have summer for month or two. I can see that in Modena temperature is now 34 C°

 

But, anyway, some pictures what has happened.

 

Capsicum Flexuosum is a bit bigger now.

 

 

I got capsicum galapagoense in exchange for pomodori semi.

 

Lemon Drop for my mother, Quadrato d'Asti Giallo and my little helper.

 

Some flowers in CAP 1487, looks just fine.

 

 

I tried to make some kind a baguette. Chili powder to dough, formaggio, grana padano, parmesan, Jalapeño mixed together and some ham and butter.

 

And finally, this is how my balcony looks like after massive pruning and tiny preparing for winter. Weekend after next we have a Chilifest in Finland, there is contest for who eats Naga Morich. Last year winner ate over 200g

Ciao! I am alive and plants are too, mainly. Chilifest was quite nice, there was also one italian eating in Naga Morich competition. There was also 2 italians selling parmesan. 2 years old, 30 € / kilo. I bought about 800 g of that, it was so delicious. This year was not good to me, in my apartment we have renewing going on, no plumbers nor water for some weeks, 9 weeks actually. Its almost over now so I can live at my own apartment again. Without my gatta for few weeks more... Anyway, here is some pictures again.

?? Still a mystery to me. After some years without fertilizers, this is what happens when I finally gave some fertilize. In poor lighting but anyway it produces quite a lot fruits. Strange thing.

 

Another mystery, almost same story. This one is about 1.5 meter long, has been growing against window so not so upward growing. This maybe needs some scissors at some point?

I believe that I have posted this wiki link before but here it is again. Sorry about late reply but I needed to go suddenly to business trip for 4 days around Finland. Just got home to see that nearly 1/4 of plants are nearly dead because lack of water. I hope those will survive once again.

 

About this chiliwiki, I spoke at Chilifest with our previous president about our wiki in different languages, as wikipedia is for several languages. He told that it would be easy put some add ons to it to support more languages, such as Italian or german, english and so on.

Spring is coming, days starts to be longer day by day. Sun rises 09:38 and goes down 15:28 and does not rise so high, days are just less dark than nights So finally I have decided what I want to grow next year, maybe. Depends if seeds are ok. I have for now only pubescenses, Locato, c04896, CGN 22796, GRIF 9345, PI 355394 and PI 355811. Not much, I know... I have planned to remove something from my growing list next summer, maybe Canario because its pods are not spicy as should and too small pods even. Chocolate Bhut Jolokia looks like its not going to survive till spring and Lemon Drop does not look happy either. If those dies in 2-3 months, I need to consider what if any I want to grow. Tepin nearly died because I forgot to give water to it 4/5 off and extra caution with that one and looks much better now, it even has some leaves now.

Champion had those small spiders on it sucking all the life from it. I have no great feelings for that one so I could try something I might regret later. If plant dies, its ok. It nearly did and now looks like I had bombed it with napalm... New green leaves so its seems to survive, again. This might go outside, permanently, in next spring. More space to others, I have seeds for this if I want to grow that again. I am not quite sure were spiders dead after this washing or what happened, I wanted more spiders just to be sure. Maybe next time. When I know for sure what happened, I might inform you what have I done.

Same plant few days ago. No nutrients at all, just water and light. Bunch of flowers, one pod even. Leaves looks stressed out, small white things under leaves like it has overdose of nutrients. 30W light about 5 cm away plant, light has been on for over 2 months now, 24/7. Maybe it wants to sleep for while?

 

 

And finally, washing seeds for future purposes.

 

 

 

Dried chilies with seeds, plastic cup with water and some waiting that good seeds goes down and bad rises up with all other extra trash. Then after drying again to small zip bags and to storage.

Rocotos are really good, so different comparing to others. Pungency is even different too. I noticed that you are going to grow PI 585273 too, its as rocoto quite fast and after removing seeds is perfect to put in milkshake or, hmm, its good with everything

 

I have xls file about my seeds, actually I have 4 different lists , all mixed up so I need to make fifth list and combine all data what I have. Not all seeds are in all my lists so I have work to do, maybe today. Soon at least.

 

About CGN 22796, all info what I have is this so that is not so much. CAP 907 same thing, 2 pictures, thats all.

 

According A I S P E S I think PI 355811 is same than Ecuadorian red c04896 and in our database I cannot even find any of those. But, in here c04896 looks different than PI 355811 is looking in here. Both pictures and info source is Fatalii seeds so I would not count on it. I need to see with my own eyes. That is reason why I want to grow both. c04896 I have only one seed so it does not looks so good. Seed has now funghi on it, might get better or not

 

And yes, I will take some decent pictures if those both starts to grow.

Yes Rocoto's pungency is different and I love that kind of pungency.

I hope I'll be able to have many ripen pods.

Past season i grew 2 Rocotos (Canario & Rocoto Manzano Rojo) but only 5 ripen pods in total.

Rocoto's have some peculiarities which are difficult to be managed here, for example most of them prefer a 12 hours daylight standard timeframe (like it is on the equator line).

Usually the cannot ripe pods during summer (only on late spring and autumn) because it's too hot.

 

I'll wait with interest your pictures.

Rocotos are known to like temperature changes because those are mainly from mountains where temperature goes quite down at nights. So I wanted to find limit of how much those can tolerate fertilizers because others in Finlandia gives a quite much it comparing to other capsicums. PI 585273 is fast and prolific too so I think you will get a good harvest from it! About 12 hours of light, I cannot agree. In here where I live in mid summer sun goes down only for hour or two and more up north has grown those with great success and sun does not go down there for few weeks. Those likes shades though, not so much of direct sunlight.

 

But, I am not even close to expert growing capsicums.

Yeah, they like shades not so much direct sunlight.

About 12 hours of light....it's just a guess (because their natural environment is like that).

Me too I'm not even close to expert growing capscicums (especially C.Pubescens).

 

But we'll have the opportunity to learn some more about those varieties in 2014

Actually I don't have so much options, not enough space in balcony. I am happy that my cat agility is so good that she can walk over my pots without dropping those.

 

About that Semillas, I am not so keen about that place. I have watched some videos on youtube, what a wind tunnels those greenhouses are. Pepper-king.com at least reminds on some seeds that "no guarantee of seed purity. Sometimes names are mixed as genus too, annuum can be frutescens etc. Afterwards error might be corrected but harm has already been done and people gives wrongly named seeds to other friends.

 

I like to overwinter my plants because its possible quite often and I want verification from others what I grow.
