Tubocapsicum anomalum a.k.a. Capsicum anomalum

Some day I found a site (in German) telling about Tubocapsicum anomalum.

Despite of it does not belong to Capsicum genus (but it was previously known as Capsicum anomalum) I opened this topic.

(If I'm wrong I beg pardon and you can delete my topic.)

As far as I understood a plant of Tubocapsicum anomalum has very strong aroma (but it's hard to explain what it's like)

Its fruits are small (~6 mm), they are edible but their taste is bitter.

 

 

 

 

Has anybody ever grown this variety?

It's very interesting, although not a Capsicum.

Well, and here I am again. Yes, I have both seeds - those of the Tubocapsicum anomalum and also of the Tubocapsicum anomalum obtusum (or something like that, not sure about the correct spelling). My company got them from the genbank in the Netherlands.

 

We are preparing the ground for the growth. The seeds are still in the cooling chamber.

 

My intention is, to try growing these "almost" Capsicums and also to find out about their cross-breeding capacity with each other and with the other Capsicum species. Delicious, exciting times are ahead!

let's see. They are no easy germinators. I hope, they will germinate. Then I wouldn't have problems to give seeds. Keep your fingers crossed...
