Chilinferno 0 Posted January 7, 2013 Dear Friends! although we are in 2013 yet it´s not late to show you my grow log from 2012. as some of you know i dont own a garden (not yet), i have to grow my plants on the window sills in my flat. it sounds difficult to grow chilis in such places but none the less it´s a good challenge to grow in every corner you may find in our every day´s life 2012 was a good year with a lot of sun shine and i ended up with a good yield. i have 5 plants from 2011 which i successfully had overwintered: *Red Fire (C.chinense) *CGN 22871 (C.baccatum) *C04620"red" (C.chinense) *Petenero (C.chinense) *Bombillito (C.frutescens) 2 plants from seeds: *Not Black Naga Mean Red Cross (from cmpman1974) (C.chinense) *C04620 "yellow" (C.chinense) there were some surprises, for instance the C04620 grown from seed turned yellow and had another shape as the one i grew in 2011. and the Not Black Naga Mean Red Cross from Chris got orange and not red as the original one and i also missed the spikes and bumps a great deal - nonetheless i have a nice substrain now. lets show you the pix. The window sills: C04620 "yellow" (left) and CGN 22871 (right) Not Black Naga Mean Red Cross (left), C04620 "yellow" (middle) and CGN 22871 (right) from left to right: Bombillito, Red Fire, C04620 "red" and Petenero C04620 "red" (left) and Petenero (right) Bombillito (left), Red Fire (middle), C04620 "red" (right) Tomotoes - it was difficult to take a shot on my own since the plants had been tied up with the window because of their weight i.e. i couldnt open the window without tieing off. Red Fire unfortunetely the plant only gave a few pods although it was full of blooms. i was very disappointed! CGN 22871 C04620 "red" its shape reminds me of Snoopy - unripe pod Snoopy matured! Petenero The plant was the latest starter in 2012, i dont know why. it also grew slowly and the harvest was unfortunetely marginal. Bombillito Not Black Naga Mean Red Cross as you can see the pods are orange and have smooth texture. the unripe pods are bumpy and have an evil look. C04620 "yellow" The Harvest: Not Black Naga Mean Red Cross (top) and C04620 "yellow" (bottom) Not Black Naga Mean Red Cross C04620 "yellow" CGN 22871 C04620 "red" (bottom), Bombillito (top left), Petenero (top right) last but not least, some tomatoes: Lycopersicum columbianum Yellow Pear The Yellow Pear produced continously tomatoes - the harvest was phenomenal. One of my favourites! Thanx for watching! i´m gonna start the season for 2013 the comming days....

nipotastro 1,346 Posted January 8, 2013 'great season, i see! do you use an hydro system? how your plants grow so tall in so little pots? ...what's your secret?? :: ps how the red lemon drop smells? what is its flavour? and the "not black neither red but orange"? Chilinferno 0 Posted January 9, 2013 Ciao Nipotastro! Mille grazie my Bad Nephew i dont use any hydro system only the watering can But the plastic pots (you can see it in the very first picture) have in the corner a hole built with an underground chamber for the water - so i just pour the water into this hole until the needle of the water indicator shows maximum. the plants suck up the water from the underground. my plants get so tall because i use a vegetable fertilizer - it is both good for vegetative growth and blooms. this season i want to maximize the yield so i will look for the best fert the CGN 22871 smells fruity and taste is almost very good, it´s a typical baccatum which i like very much. of course the Lemon Drop smells/tastes much more citrus like! honestly i havent tasted the not black naga yet but i will soon and report it here in some days i will start the new season cant await it
