Alex 35 Posted October 30, 2021 As I said in the presentation topic in 2009 I had problems with my cultivation due to white fly and also for lack of knowledge I lost almost all my seeds due to poor conservation, this made me give up on peppers plants but this year I'm returning and I hope to post here some photos of my plants. Nothing as professional, big or rare as many have made here! It's just a small cultivation with nothing special. So... Be nice with me OK!? For now my cultivation list is: New varieties I bought from Spain and US. (C. chinense) Puma Habanada Naga BBG7 Orange Big Olive Mama Big Mustard Mama Jays X Purple PDN X Bonda Ma Jacques (White) BTR Scorpion Jays Peach Ghost Scorpion Bleeding Borg 9 Papa Joes Scotch Bonnet KS Lemon Starrburst Pimenta da Neyde Butch T X 7 Pod Jonah Gold (C. annuum) Murasaki Purple Lesya Thai Hot Buena Mulata Thunder Mountain Longhorn (C. baccatum) Aji Amarillo Aji Bodysnatcher Sugar Rush Peach (C. rhomboideum) C. rhomboideum (My precious! 😉) This list is not definitive as I still have some varieties to receive. If I create the topic in the wrong place correct me OK!?

Alex 35 Posted November 1, 2021 Some Update My C. rhomboideum germinated today! yeah! Any advice about this specie? (How to care, climate, soil type, etc).

Yeah hahah C.rhomboideum is a particular species because it doesn't have a sympodial development, it doesn't have capsaicin, it has a particular flower and 26 chromomes . Apart for this it is a wild sp. not overly demanding. As for all Capsicum plants do not over-irrigate (to much water and stagnation, especially at the beginning, do not favor root development). Allow the development of axillary buds

My C.Rhomboideum germinated but I only had one seedling and I lost it early in the season. On my grow list for 2022 again along with lots of other wilds.

Thanks ChilliCrosser hope you have better luck with your wilds in 2022 it must be challenging to grow peppers plants in the UK climate! It's the first time I'm growing wild variety except Cumari (C. praetermissum) who is native here I tried to buy some wild species from Semillas La Palma, but they don't ship anything to Brazil, the only variety I got was C.rhomboideum from another supplier. Anyway... I saw your post with your crosses and the results are very interesting how the shape, colour and flavor of the pods can change. My Cumari (very fuzzy leaves and stems):

Some years are good, others not so good. Growing in a greenhouse is the best, most of mine are outdoors with only a few in a small glass enclosure or indoors. 'challenging' is the polite way of describing it, especially this year 😂 On 11/4/2021 at 3:23 PM, Alex said: It's the first time I'm growing wild variety except Cumari (C. praetermissum) who is native here I tried to buy some wild species from Semillas La Palma, but they don't ship anything to Brazil, the only variety I got was C.rhomboideum from another supplier. Yes, lots of seed sellers are changing where they will send seeds to. There are a number of established US sellers who won't ship to the UK anymore as well.

Yeah, I think some sellers are having problems with phytosanitary laws or with the postal service in some countries.
Alex 35 Posted November 13, 2021 The varieties below I sowed early in the fall I will not continue to grow most of them because I don't have enough space here just waiting the pods ripen to save some seeds. The lack of space is a big problem for me!!! 🙄 The "Pepper X" 🤪 Not really, probably fake... I will post more about it in the ID topic when the pods are fully ripen.. Cayenne I like it because of the versatility Jamaican Mushroom Yellow Funny looking pods Bhut Jolokia Red It's pretty spice!

Alex 35 Posted November 28, 2021 This is called "Bhut Jolokia Aimoré" this variety have been developed by a seeds company here in Brazil The leaves are different from traditional Bhut Jolokia the pods are smaller it's very productive but I think they are less spicy and lost some of the aroma. The Alexander Pritamin Paprika have huge pods!
Alex 35 Posted November 28, 2021 The C. rhomboideum is growing slowly very slowly.

Alex 35 Posted December 10, 2021 Time to transplant the peppers to the definitive container. Unfortunately BTR Scorpion, Big Mustard Mama and Buena Mulata didn't germinate, I'll try one more time as I still have some seeds! The other varieties I sowed later, so they are still too small for the definitive transplant. Aji Bodysnatcher Suffered a lot with the scorch sun here! Bleeding Borg 9 Jays Peach Ghost Scorpion Jays X Purple KS Lemon Starrburst Big Olive Mama Papa Joes Scotch Bonnet PDN X Bonda Ma Jacques (White) Sugar Rush Peach Thai Hot It's producing flower buds too early! Thunder Mountain Longhorn Same as Thai Hot, producing buds too early!
