Floricole 2021

This year, I won't grow many lot of work to do. Building my greenhouse and prepare a plot of land for the next season.

I have a friend from Colombia who has been cultivating this pepper for two years at his place. He sent me some seeds as a gift.

I think it is C. geminifolium but it does not have the spots in the flower. Maybe a variant?

I will also grow some
arolina Reaper
Madame Jeanette
X'catik
to supply my sauce producers

I wish you a good gardening season

I think it could a be a geminifolium, leaves disposition is really typical and in this pic the flower looks very similar:

Happy gardening!

C.geminifolium and C.lycianthoides are synonymous but we now wait for Gloria's new monograph. I suspect they will be different species and what is in your photo represents C.lycianthoides. I reserve the right to be wrong though.

You may want to check with the moderating team to see if this post meets the rules.

I can't edit, modify my post. So if this does not respect the rules, the moderators will make the corrections I hope.
I kept this site for information about C.lycianthoides

Maybe they are wrong ?

It certainly doesn't have the spots of C. geminifolium. It could be a c. benoistii? I have no idea how it is but it is described "Similar to Capsicum geminifolium (Dammer) Hunz. but differing in the length of the flowering pedicels, the shape of the corolla, and the presence of heterostylous flowers”. The flower should be analyzed better to understand if it is this species.

However it looks like this flower but I don’t undstand which species it refers to.

More information can be found here, although I'm sure you already know this publication.

Hard to say if C.geminifolium or C.lycianthoides or other from few photos.

I suspect that these species have a great variability in corolla colors.

I don't know if it's legal to export seeds of wild species from Colombia, so I don't have reasons to moderate this topic.

Who exports seeds of wild species and who grows plants from wild seeds exported do it under his responsibility.

In any case, this is a very interesting species to grow.

Nothing has been hidden and has been inspected by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)

My friend found a severely damaged roadside plant, he harvested a mature fruit and cultivated for two years.
He has redistributed the seeds collected from the wild since. But he had to leave his village to go live in the city, now he can't cultivate it, which is why he sent me some seeds.

Ex situ conservation  hope it will grow and  it will live for long

It will also be interesting for us supposing @floricole wants to document the growth of the plant here on the forum.

I do not know of any official rules, just thought it would be a good idea to contact the moderating team because these topics are often sensitive. All for protection of this great forum.  It seems like Lonewolf has addressed this so everything is fine.

I am curious to see what Gloria Barboza brings to us in the new monograph. From what I understand it is close to being released. The plant in your photo resembles what she labeled C.lycianthoides in a recent publication. There were other mistakes in that also,so even botanists aren't always correct.
