Devabriel 95 Posted January 21, 2020 And how do you germinate your capsicum? 😆 I have found some better success germinating in soil for the jaltomata, but some sure are hard. I hope it's like capsicum in that regard that they seem to be easier to get to germinate with more generations grown.

Wild Capsicum are much easier to germinate now compared to 10 years ago. I agree that germination % should increase in Jaltomata as seed stocks improve, but there are still some that are stubborn, much like C.tovarii,a pepper species. It's genetic.

I hade problems last year with J.tlaxcala, but might have been the seeds. J.procumbens and J.bohisiana did sprout readily last year. Will see what works and what not this year. J.tlazcala worked this year, and some of the others seems to work so atleast I'll likely will get some jaltomata. With some more generations it probably will be easier. My C.tovarii was actually really easy to germinate this year, not C.annuum easy but not hard atleast (if indeed it is correct species).

At 45 days this year and still nothing. That is the toughest so far. All the mexican species germinate quickly. C.tovarii has germinated for me in under 10 days before. Less than 24 hours once with GA3. In general,it is one of the most difficult seeds to germinate. Even after growing that speciesfor 8 or 9 years. One might germinate quickly, but the rest will take awhile. I have not read much on that topic,or why that happens. Conversely,I have seen certain species that germinate in unison.
