The above came from the kit I received in the mail.

I'm using alcohol to dissolve the Ga-374610667_238911917094492_8253644966325125120_o.jpg.6d5af6b00fc1c23cec21565c045df362.jpg

The  experiment...I utilize 2 cups of water almost 1/4 cup of alcohol to dissolve 0.08 grams of 90% Ga-3. Seeds soaking since approximately 1830 on 30 Nov 2019.

Cool cool!

Do you think it will work?

Does somebody else tried this before?

Are you sure it won't damage the seeds?

Ga-3 is a common growth hormone used to germinate seeds. I have found an article that references using it for Capsicum eximium and C. baccatum. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/The-cumulated-number-of-germinated-seeds-over-time-No-priming--water-dashed_fig2_323020599

I am trying to see how it works on germinating my seeds in the cold as I've seen many mention heat is more important. To that end, I have  a picture in the above that is showing some germination beginning even in the cold with my seeds. I would imagine the results would be much better if given more warmth, but this is a fun change to the experiment nonetheless.

Reading the article right now, at a first glance it seems done with good methodology with consistent results. Very interesting.

They kept the seeds at about 29°C and 85% R.U, what parameters are you using?

Rougly 10 degrees celsius. Definitely not trying to utilize heat to my advantage. I'm also using 350 ppm up to 1500+ ppm. in my experiment. Mind you, I'm not putting any tight controls on this so it is mostly just for fun. If I can get a few wilds eximium, praetermissium, etc. to germinate and bloom for me from seed planted now... that is all I really care about as that may give me time to make some interesting hybrids this summer.

Well, keep us updated, if it can help at that temps it will turn out helpful for sure!

All I can tell you for certain is that some seeds have already started to germinate at those temperatures as you can see from the pictures above. But I won't be happy unless I can get several with their first leaves showing.

More seeds arrived just today. So, now I have to mix up some more growth hormones and see if I can get these to sprout as well. Looks like I'm going to have a fun 2020IMG_4547.jpeg.aa97ebe7b3fdafac3dd55cd7900859fe.jpegIMG_4548.jpeg.7e0d1dabf56c54f1e419fd140b3b74fe.jpegIMG_4549.jpeg.a62892c6c8b2136a735d4234fd81a961.jpeg

Update, I attempted to germinate in the cold with Ga--3... no seeds would germinate until 2 days ago... brought temperature up... seeds started to sprout within 24 hours of C. baccatum purple flower and C. eximium within 48 hours. Temperature seems to be the most important or at the least... a very important variable that can not be overlooked.
