Update Report
TUBOCAPSICUM ANOMALUM VAR. OBTUSUM
The prehistoric ancestor of our daily Capsicum
.
It took me some good connections and half a decade, to get seeds and get them growing, but here they are! "Tubocapsicum anomalum var. obtusum" is becoming increasingly rare in the nature, it grows only at a very few places in Asia today (the related "T. anomalum" is a bit more wide-spread still). Many seeds don't even germinate. My intention is, to grow a larger stock of new seeds, and to try giving them a new home inside the rainforest in the tropical Caribbean before they go extinct. I will also try to cross them with the Capsicum genera.

Tubocapsicum is an interesting plant, even if I'm not sure it has some relationship with Capsicum.

It would also be strange if it would be the ancestor of wild Capsicum, considering that it's spread in another continent ...

My intention is, to grow a larger stock of new seeds, and to try giving them a new home inside the rainforest in the tropical Caribbean before they go extinct.

I'm not sure this is a good idea.

The impact of the introduction o a "new" species in the wild could be impredictable.

Other continents:
Some persons from a university tell me, the divsion might have occured a long time ago (as with all genera within the Solanicaeia family). The splitting of the continents would nt sak for or against it. I personally am notsure.

But I grow t, to prevent it from extinction. While Tubocapcum anomalum is still growng at more places, Tubocapsicum anomal var. obtusum is now very rare.
