Saras Green (C.chinense)

Recommended Posts

varg

26 december 2013 I got my first seedling of Saras Green cultivar (C.chinense).

Three weeks later they looked like this

I don't have enough room to grow plants indoors so I left only one plant.

33 days plant looked so

At first this plant grew a little bit strange. When it was 41 days old its height was 10 cm and its width was 25 cm!

Today I have noticed some first flower buds appear on it.

Nowadays the plant looks like this.

Very fast chinensr... Interesting!

You're right. Blooming at age of 60-70 days is unusual to C.chinense varieties. In my practice I grew only 3 varieties which began flowering at such age.

Habanero Yellow Pointed: first flower - 56 days after germination, first mature fruit - 100 days after germination.

Maraba: first flower - 65 days after germination, first ripe pod - 108 days after germination.

Pimenta Biquinho (low heat variety): first flower - 69 days after germination, first mature fruit - 97 days after germination.

Very nice and healthy plant!

Thank you, Claudio!

Take a look here - for example here (#347) - if you're interested in my statistics about 2013's growing season

Hi Varg and congratulations !

Do you have some additional information about this variety ?

I'm referring in particular to the hotness and taste of pods,

Hi Varg and congratulations !

I'm referring in particular to the hotness and taste of pods,

Here is a description of this cultivar (in German)

Sehr scharfe grüne Capsicum chinense Sorte, die aus einer Samenprobe Chocolate Scorpion SR angezogen wurde. Die Schoten sind reif, wenn sie eine leichte orange Färbung zeigen. Sehr gutes Aroma

It's my first time I'm growing Sara's Green. Seeds are bought at semillas.de.

Mature fruits will look so:

Interesting.

Taste?

I don't know yet. It's my first time I'm growing Sara's Green. The only pod which is growing now in my plant isn't ripe yet.

The photo above isn't mine but from semillas.de

144 days since seed's germination/60 days since the fruit forming (I think it's ripe and it's time to take a taste test...)

IMHO, this variety has the same flavor as Trinidad Scorpion's fruits.
