JohnF 0 Posted September 12, 2008 Anyone grow this? I have two plants and previously posted a picture of pods from both plants saying there was variation. Upon closer examination I realized they are two different plants. Anyone know which is correct?
Lonewolf 18,110 Posted September 12, 2008 I believe true piri piri is a small erect fruit, so plant "b" is my choice. However a lot of peppers is called piri-piri (which means something like "pepper-pepper") so plant "a" may be (another) piri-piri as well.
JohnF 0 Posted September 12, 2008 Yes, my Portuguese source said he did not know a specific variety name that the local people just called it Piri Piri
whocares 7 Posted September 16, 2008 Hi John, I believe that the second one is the piri-piri. Look here : And here in Portugal the term piri-piri is a bit confusing because people calls piri-piri every hot pepper, though the real one is a C. Frutescens with erect pods as this.
