A "provocation"...!

 

I noticed in the morphology of the seedlings that Cajamarca (Caiamarca) does not seem to follow the same pattern as the other C.Chinense (for an example look at the photo below, the Cajamarca has a red circle the C.Chinense a yellow one).

 

Is it possible that this indicates Cajamarca may be of a different species? (sorry if this has been discussed before...)

 

I don't notice particular similarities with any of the other annuum or fructescens I am growing... the pod shape resembles some of the Ají though...?

 

...I thought I'd open up a "debate" ...I don't know if DNA analysis has ever been done? ...maybe it's like Bhut... i.e. an "inbetween" species...?

Many properties of Caiamarca show clearly it's a stable hybrid between C.Chinense and C.Annuum

(remember this cross-pollination happens easily)

 

In small plants the leaves pointed and pointing up are typical.

OK! Thanks Lonewolf, I had the feeling it wasn't pure Chinense but instinct told me it may be a hybrid with Baccatum (the pod colour transition is very similar to C.Baccatum "Omnicolour" don't you think?) ...it's interesting to know the answer!

Questo è uno di quelli che mi avevi detto era un peperoncino ornamentale, oppure che ti piaceva come sapore?

Bellissima pianta, purtroppo come peperoncino non mi attira molto, scusate, ma lo sento a pelle se una pianta mi piace o no

Il Caiamarca riunisce molte doti ... e' bello, buono e piccante ... germina in fretta, cresce veloce ... allega bene in isolamento e produce molti semi per frutto (facilitando la produzione di semi puri)

Che chiedere di piu' ?

Una delle due piante 2009 e' tuttora in taverna; le foglie si sono seccate, ma sembra viva.

A breve la porto fuori e vedremo se riparte ...

 

Gusto, odore e piccantezza dei frutti sono quelli tipici dei C.Chinense.

Si, e' ancora tempo utile per seminarla ... germina in fretta (tutte le mie nascite dal terriccio entro 6 giorni) e cresce molto rapidamente.

That is one of the most beautiful pics I've seen Claudio. I never could ripen mine red as they are too long season for my climate. Obviously, the seed was viable though.

Love the photo Claudio! I also got my seeds from Chris! Great pepper, but it took a while for the pods to mature. Yes it do seem to have some annuum in it.
